Community Champions Awards

Beginning in 2010, the ECD Social Marketing Group co-ordinated an awards of excellence event to acknowledge early childhood development champions, in the Tri-Cities. Nominations were sought out from the community at large, and 9 events were held from 2010-2018. Award categories included:

• individual champion – direct service role 
• individual champion – leadership role
• individual or group champion – working with children who have extra support needs
• group or organization champion
• business champion
• volunteer champion.

These champions could be anyone in the community who promoted the well-being of young children (under six years of age), and their families through a personal or professional relationship, and demonstrated a commitment to providing a better future for our children.

Nominees and award winners were honoured during a formal dinner event at various locations each year. The Children's Accord was also re-affirmed at this event annually.

This event was an important step in bringing the community together to honour and celebrate everyone from Cities, public schools, pre-schools, child care facilities, local businesses and others, in order to further collaboration efforts, and continue the momentum of making children matter in our community.
